The Tempest Talons
The Tempest Talons is a free company that has been around since June 2015 and was reestablished on Mateus in January 2019. We are a social, casual free company full of new players and veterans alike.Our focus has always been to foster a welcoming environment where people can meet, make friends, and play together. Membership Rules
While The Tempest Talons pride themselves on relaxing and having a great time, we do have some general rules we'd like everyone to follow. By being a member of the free company, you are agreeing to the following rules:
General
If there is an issue, please contact a member of leadership in-game or on Discord. We cannot address issues if we do not know about them.
Members who have been inactive for 180 days will be removed weekly. These players will have their Discord role changed to Talons Alumni. Members are welcome to join again after removal due to inactivity!
Do not cause a nuisance in the community. Toxic or problematic behavior will not be tolerated and will result in dismissal from the free company and Discord.
Please do not argue with leadership. Decisions are final. We will explain any decisions we make, but ultimately leadership has the final word.
Please keep personal issues personal. If you have a problem with another group member, please take it to PM. A public forum is not the place. Feel free to reach out to leadership if you need a 3rd party to mediate.
No bashing or heated arguments with other people in the chat. Discussions are fine but keep it civil and on the subject, don't resort to name-calling or personal insults
No racist or degrading content (Racial or ableist terms are not allowed) in any channel.
No excessive cursing. Profanity is allowed, just not in excess.
No offensive names/nicknames.
No explicit discussions or content outside of the #nsfw Discord channel.
In order to maintain safety for the FC, we will be requiring folks interested in joining the Talons to have their Lodestone profile public, at least temporarily. This will allow for us to properly screen new members and ensure we do not have known problematic folks joining the FC. Once they have been screened, Lodestone IDs can return to private status.
If you are inviting a new member - and please do! - please make sure you have communicated with them the above spoiler policy and PG-13 chat expectation, as well as that we have folks under 18 in the FC. We will still be screening these folks as well, so they may be asked to make their Lodestone public temporarily so we can keep the FC safe.
In-Game Specific
Please keep game spoilers out of the general FC chat channel. Many members have not completed the entire FFXIV Main Story Questline, so there is no way to know who would be spoiled by what.
If you would like to discuss something that is potentially a spoiler, please take it to a party chat, tells or to the #spoilers-and-lore channel on Discord.
Crops planted in the garden plots at the free company house are only to be harvested by the player who planted them.
Discord Specific
Use each Discord channel properly.
No spamming or flooding the chat with messages. Do not type in ALL CAPS in excess
When posting to the #screenshots channel, please double check if you think the screenshot contains game spoilers. If so, you can either post it to the #spoilers-and-lore channel or use Discord's spoiler tag, which will blur your image until someone chooses to view it.
Any discussion of botting, use of autoclickers, or other 3rd party tools that give you a direct gameplay advantage are strictly forbidden. As a reminder, all 3rd party tools are against the Square-Enix Terms of Service. Any in-game discussion of them can be subject to game bans, as Square-Enix moderators have access to all chat logs - including the private ones.
When using voice chat, be mindful of others in the chat. Nuisance behavior will result in the removal of voice chat privileges. Push to talk is highly recommended as a courtesy to others if you have a loud background.
Spoilers Policy
In-game discussion of the main story of FFXIV is to be kept to party chat or tells.
Discord discussion of the main story of FFXIV is to be kept to the forum post assigned to the expansion being discussed.
Intentional spoiling of the main story will result in dismissal from the free company.
Roleplay Rules
The Tempest Talons is a free company with a roleplay group, not a roleplay free company.
Roleplay is an optional, opt-in activity. This includes bystanders at the free company house.
All Tempest Talons rules apply to roleplay. "It's just roleplaying" is not a valid reason for a rules violation. Violators are subject to removal.
Free company chat will not be used for roleplay events or in-character conversations. Casual comments are allowed. You may be asked to move the conversation to a private channel.
Personal free company rooms are off-limits for roleplay without the room owner’s permission.

Ranks and Benefits
The Tempest Talons have the following member ranks: Commander, Vice Commander, Captain, First Lieutenant, Second Lieutenant, Sergeant and Private. Commander and Vice Commander are leadership ranks.
Please be considerate of other members when removing items from the company chest.
Abuse of the company chest will result in loss of access.
Support System
We are fortunate to have two different ways our members support each other. The first is our captains. Captains are individually selected by leadership as additional support. In addition to our captains, we also have our own mentor system. Members of the Talons have volunteered to help mentor other members in all parts of the game.
